How Diamond Rating Works

Every player starts with a 1000 Diamond Rating. Your rating represents your overall performance in Daily Diamond.

Your rating changes after every game based on your result, number of guesses, hints used, completion timing, and your current rating.

Rating Formula

Your rating change is calculated using:

Rating Change = (Base Score × Guess Modifier × Hint Modifier × Completion Modifier) × Rating Multiplier

The final rating change is added to your current Diamond Rating.

Base Score

Your game result determines the starting value.

💎 Win: +100 Base Score
❌ Give Up: -50 Base Score
⏳ Unfinished Game: -25 Rating Penalty

If an unfinished game is later completed, the unfinished penalty is removed and replaced by the final game result.

Guess Modifier

Fewer guesses are rewarded with a larger rating increase. The effect decreases gradually as the number of guesses increases.

Guess Modifier = 1.50 - (log10(Guesses ÷ 5) × 0.50)

Minimum Guess Modifier: 0.70x

Examples:
5 guesses: 1.50x
20 guesses: ~1.20x
50 guesses: ~1.00x
100 guesses: ~0.85x
200+ guesses: 0.70x

Hint Modifier

Using fewer hints gives a larger rating reward. Hints have diminishing impact, meaning the first few hints matter more than additional hints later.

Hint Modifier = 1.25 - (log10(Hints + 1) × 0.50)

Minimum Hint Modifier: 0.50x

Examples:
0 hints: 1.25x
1 hint: ~1.10x
5 hints: ~0.86x
10 hints: ~0.73x
20+ hints: 0.50x

Completion Modifier

Completing a game on the same day gives a small bonus.

Same-day completion: 1.00x
Completed later: 0.95x

Rating Multiplier

Your current Diamond Rating affects how much your rating changes after each game.

Lower-rated players can gain rating faster, while higher-rated players gain rating more slowly. This helps new players catch up while making it harder for top-rated players to keep increasing forever.

Rating Multiplier = 1.25 - (√(Current Rating - 1000) ÷ 100)

The square root creates a gradual slowdown as ratings increase. Higher ratings require more consistent strong performances to continue climbing.

Rating Progression

Your Diamond Rating is updated after every completed game by adding or subtracting your final rating change.

Example:

Starting Rating: 1000
Game Rating Change: +65
New Rating: 1065

Playing more games does not automatically increase your rating. Every game is another opportunity to gain or lose rating.

Ranking

Players are ranked by their current Diamond Rating.

The highest rating appears at the top of the leaderboard.

A player with a 1500 rating ranks above a player with a 1200 rating.

The goal is to build the highest Diamond Rating by consistently winning games, solving puzzles efficiently, and minimizing hints.
